Yesterday Ana and I had the pleasure of going to Amy Atlas’ book signing, Sweet Designs in Annapolis. This was exciting because I always wanted to think that if Preston Bailey and Amy Atlas had a love child then that would be our style. Haha! A girl can dream can’t she!?! We drove over an hour to see Amy and it was so worth the trip. On the way there, we talked about what we were going to say when we met her and came up with nothing. It’s rare that you get to meet someone that you are truly influenced by.
When we got to Williams-Sonoma, Amy was warm and welcoming. Her presentation on sweets, styling and crafts were amazing … just like the book. She was so down to earth, funny and charasmatic that I felt like we were talking to an old friend. After the presentation, we had strawberry trifle with grand marnier. Yum! I could go on and on about how good it was but I will spare you. Thank God the recipe is in the book!
Amy is so sweet. She took the time to talk with everyone one on one afterwards, something that not everyone would do. She signed our books and we chatted with her and Lisa, The Commander in Sweets, for a while about the business of dessert. It was great to finally meet the dynamic duo in person after only communicating through email and social media in the past. Her advice and the experience are ones that I will never forget.
If you have a chance to catch up with Amy on her Sweet Designs book tour you should defintely go. And if you’re not able to catch the tour, the book is a must. Amy breaks down the dessert table in fabulous how-tos, recipes and tips.
Thank you Amy for being such a Sweet inspiration!
